Make Better Decisions

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Read Romans 8:9-17.

A teenage girl was being reproved by her mother because she went on a high-school field trip without letting Mom know she was going. *Why didn*t you tell me?* her mother asked. *What would have happened if we had to get in touch with you due to an emergency?* *Well,* the daughter replied, *I was afraid if I asked, you*d say no.* How like children we all are! Believer, you can trust God to give you the best. Jesus said so! (Matt. 7:7-11)

Give yourself time to mull over a decision and to seek God about it. All my mistakes have been made in a hurry. *Wait on the Lord,* the psalmist urged. Your mind needs time to let an idea *ripen.* What seems very attractive today may not be so alluring tomorrow after you have prayed and thought about it. Be sure of this: anything that is definitely God*s will for you will grow more intense, more demanding, more attractive as you think and pray about it. *I thought on my ways,* said the psalmist, *and turned my feet unto Thy testimonies* (Ps. 119:59).

You will do well to turn to God*s Word each time you wonder what to do. The Bible speaks plainly to those who listen. The Holy Spirit always answers.

Small thought here. Ask yourself how a proposed decision squares up with the standard and commitments you have made previously. God will rarely, if ever, ask you to violate commitments you have made to Him and to His will as you understand it.
